SPARK cards are specifically designed to encourage children to observe picture details and to improve picture interpretation skills. The cards can be used to enhance the ability of children to retell stories, sequence pictures, and problem solve. The picture cards can be used to prompt the ‘wh’ basic questions of ‘who’ ‘what’ ‘where’ and ‘when’.
 
Each picture scene is illustrated to specifically target higher levels of thinking and to improve proficiency in: responding to ‘why’ and ‘how’ questions, analyzing and comparing, inferring and predicting, and reasoning.
 
Individual picture card can be used on their own to target many language goals including: sentence formulation, use of nouns, verbs and verb tenses, pronouns, adjectives, prepositions, temporal concepts, main idea, basic exposure to basic concepts and more.
 
Each picture set contains 6 picture scenes. Higher level skills and critical thinking can be achieved when using all 6 picture cards as a set. The sets can also be trimmed to 3-4 picture scenes by removing 2-3 picture cards for lower level sequencing and story retelling.
